Community guidelines

URLR works when what gets shared is genuinely useful. These are the rules that keep it that way.

Share things worth someone's time

• Add a sentence explaining why the link matters. That context is the point.
• Link to the original source, not to something reposting it.
• Check whether it has already been shared. If it has, add to that discussion.

Do not use URLR to promote yourself

• Occasional sharing of your own work is fine if it is genuinely useful.
• Repeatedly posting your own site is not, whatever the content.
• Affiliate and paid links are not permitted.
• Do not ask other people to vote for your submissions.

Discuss the link, not the person

• Disagree with what someone said, not with who they are.
• No harassment, and no abuse directed at anyone.
• Do not post other people's private information.

Not allowed at all

• Anything illegal under UK law.
• Malware, phishing, or links that deceive about where they go.
• Content sexualising children. Reported to the authorities, always.
• Material that infringes copyright.

What happens when a rule is broken

Depending on severity: the submission is removed, the account is limited, or the account is closed. You can appeal any of these by writing to us — see contact.

Report anything that breaks these rules using the report control on the link or comment, or by email if it is urgent.
